Redline Launches Full Suite of RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX products

Redline Communications Group Inc. introduced its full suite of RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX products. Redline’s expanded family of 802.16e-2005 base stations units and subscriber devices for the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands allows operators to select and deploy network elements that meet their specific network and business requirements.

The expanded RedMAX 4C family includes Redline’s 802.16e-2005-based chassis base station, which incorporates Redline’s 2×2 MIMO antenna technology and delivers equal performance to competitive 4×2 systems, providing greater coverage and a lower absolute cost to operators. The chassis base station has been featured in customer trials and major events since May, 2007 and is being submitted for WiMAX Forum Certification. The RedMAX 4C family also includes Redline’s new outdoor three-sector micro and single-sector pico and macro base stations. In addition, Redline will reveal its indoor pico base station which enables operators to reach more subscribers in diverse scenarios.

GSM Technologies Grow 9% in Western Hemisphere, says 3G Americas Organization

3G Americas, an organization representing GSM technology in the Americas, today announces that the GSM technology family’s market share in the Western Hemisphere — North America, Central and South America, and the Caribbean — has grown nine percentage points in the past twelve months, to 62%, up from 53% at the end of third quarter 2006. The GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA deployment strategy is gaining global traction, with nearly 150 joint EDGE/UMTS networks commercially available. 3G Americas also reports almost 200 commercial UMTS networks, 150 of which are enhanced by HSDPA, and most UMTS operators are expected to upgrade network services with HSPA (HSDPA+HSUPA) building a truly global platform for ubiquitous wireless data services.

The number of GSM/UMTS subscriptions in the Western Hemisphere rose by more than 100 million in the past year, from approximately 282 million in September 2006 to 384 million at the end of September 2007, bringing total market share of the GSM family of technologies to 62%, according to third quarter data from Informa Telecoms and Media. During the same timeframe, market share for CDMA technologies declined from 33.5% to 31%, and now represents 193 million subscriptions within the Americas. In Latin America and the Caribbean alone, the number of GSM/UMTS subscriptions totaled nearly 276 million, for a market share of 78% at the end of the third quarter. GSM/UMTS subscriptions in the US and Canada numbered more than 108 million.

Rogers Rolls Out HSPA in 25 Canadian Markets

Rogers today announced the next phase of its 3G high speed wireless network and Vision services in 22 Canadian markets. Earlier this year, Rogers introduced its Vision suite of services in Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe. Rogers is the first and only wireless carrier in North America to offer wireless video calling.

The Rogers Vision suite of services operates on Rogers’ new High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network, the fastest wireless network in Canada. HSPA is the latest evolution of GSM, the world-wide standard for mobile wireless communications. This 3G protocol significantly increases download speeds on wireless devices, providing a user experience similar to broadband high-speed services.

Motorola in Talks with MIPPS and Primus Canada for Mobile WiMAX Trial, reports Chicago Daily Herald

The Chicago Daily Herald offered a brief mention today that Motorola Inc. is working with Primus Canada and Mipps Inc. on trials of Mobile WiMAX in Toronto. The trial, using Motorola’s wi4 WiMAX brand, will provide in-field experience and data to both service providers as they evaluate WiMAX technology for planned future deployments of high-speed wireless broadband services throughout Canada.

Primus Canada and Mipps to trial 3.5 GHz Mobile WiMAX on Alcatel-Lucent platform

Alcatel-Lucent announced today that Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc., the largest alternative communications carrier in Canada, and Mipps Inc., a Canadian wireless operator that acquired 3.5 GHz licensed spectrum in most major cities across Canada, have selected Alcatel-Lucent’s Evolium WiMAX solution to support market trials of IEEE 802.16e-2005 WiMAX broadband wireless access service.

Mipps will deploy the Alcatel-Lucent 9100 Evolium WiMAX end-to-end radio solution, including base stations, Wireless Access Controller and Operation and Maintenance Center. Upon successful completion of the field trial, Primus Canada, through its strategic relationship with Mipps, will provide its subscribers with broadband access to high speed Internet and data transmissions with a guaranteed level of quality. Comcentric deploys Redline’s WiMAX solutions in Canadian communities

RedMAX WiMAX Forum Certified system bridges enterprise and residential digital divide to deliver advanced connectivity services in Ontario, Canada.

Redline Communications Inc., a Canadian provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, and Comcentric Networking Inc., a consortium of Ontario-based networking and communications providers, today announced the successful deployment of Redline’s RedMAX systems to establish advanced WiMAX networks to connect business and residential broadband subscribers in Southwestern Ontario.

Quadro Communications, one of the Comcentric owner companies, worked closely with Nexicom, a diverse communications company and leader in telecommunications in Central Ontario, to roll out Redline’s WiMAX solution south of Mitchell in late 2006. After a rigorous selection process, Redline’s RedMAX system was chosen to expand Comcentric’s existing fixed wireless network, enabling the consortium to reach more subscribers, deliver advanced communications services, and ensure faster connection speeds for users. New Novatel Wireless data cards and modem offer mobile broadband data access

Bell Canada today announced further speed enhancements to the Bell Mobility high speed mobile data network, and also introduced three new Novatel Wireless (NASDAQ: NVTL) mobile
broadband devices built exclusively for Bell Mobility customers requiring fast and reliable data access on the go.

“Bell’s enhanced high speed mobile data network, also known as EV-DO Rev A, supports applications and services that offer business clients a powerful and reliable mobile broadband experience,” said Adel Bazerghi, Vice President, Products for Bell Mobility. “Mobile data services are the fastest growing segment in wireless, and our ongoing network speed enhancements underline Bell Mobility’s focus on leading the marketplace.”

Available today in regions across Ontario, Bell’s enhanced high-speed mobile network offers peak upload speeds of 1.8 megabits per second (Mbps) and peak download speeds of approximately 3.1 Mbps. Bell plans to introduce further speed enhancements in selected markets across Canada throughout 2007.
