Samsung Electronics America announced today the availability of two new ultra mobile personal computers (UMPC). The Q1U-CMXP, a Q1 ultra mobile model with integrated HSDPA 3G cellular modem and the Q1UP-V, a Q1 Ultra Premium featuring Vista Business, join Samsung’s current line of UMPC’s. The new models are available nationwide at a suggested list price of $1,499 for the Q1U-CMXP and $1,449 for the Q1UP-V.

The Q1U-CMXP connects with integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10/100 BaseTX, and an integrated HSDPA 3G cellular modem supporting the AT&T Broadband Connect network. In addition, the model boasts the same specifications as the industry standard Q1 Ultra XP model launched in May of 2007.

The Q1UP-V with Microsoft Vista Business is designed for the commercial market, as well as those individuals that travel frequently, by delivering a high performance PC in a small form combined with enhanced features, extended battery life, and superior text entry thanks to the V1.5 split-QWERTY key caps. Fueled by an ultra fast 1.33 GHz Intel Core Solo U1500 Pentium ultra low voltage CPU and 2 GB of system memory, these components significantly enhance support for Microsoft Vista Business. Moreover, the Q1UP-V has integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and 10/100 BaseTX providing users with various wired and wireless connectivity options, delivering a high-performance mobile computing solution that offers full PC functionality in an ultra-light package weighing under two pounds. Powering this premiere UMPC platform is a 6-cell, 57.7 watt Lithium-Ion polymer battery that provides up to seven hours of battery life for extended, continuous usage.

“With the growing adoption of Ultra Mobile Personal Computers, Samsung continues to lead the category it pioneered, by delivering high performance feature set solutions that meet a variety of vertical and horizontal market applications,” said Bret Berg, senior product marketing manager of mobile computing products, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. “The availability of the Q1U-CMXP allows unlimited connectivity and the Q1UP-V delivers the latest Microsoft operating system with the horsepower needed for optimal performance. We anticipate that these Q1 Ultra models will be the most popular and successful additions to our product lineup.”

Seamless communication is accomplished by combining the 300 pixel webcam along with a dual-array microphone and speakers, enabling face-to-face video chatting/video conferencing. The two models also include a 1.3 mega pixel camera for taking pictures and recording video.

Both the Q1U-CMXP and Q1UP-V models come standard with a one-year warranty. Additional accessories available from Samsung include a safeguard case designed by Otterbox to hold and protect the UMPC from damage that may occur from active lifestyles. Additional accessories include and external USB keyboard, a docking station that supports three additional USB 2.0 ports, an additional battery charger slot, audio-out and microphone-in ports, a GPS navigation receiver enabling pin-point location accuracy anywhere in the U.S. and Canada, extended-life battery packs, car charger, replacement stylus, AC adapters, and a DVD-RW+/- Dual Layer external Optical Disk Drive.
