Ziff-Davis Media’s GearLog snapped a photo from the CES show floor of a handset that supposedly is LG’s entry into the Mobile WiMAX game with Sprint Nextel.

Last August, Sprint Nextel said that LG was working on consumer electronics devices for the Xohm service, but held back any specifics on models, specifications, and timing.

The announcement of the dual mode handset ( GSM/ WiMAX) is an important announcement as it potentially brings XOHM WiMAX to all users, including those who may not be inclined to use a UMPC. Such a Phone is also expected to provide network interoperability owing to the roaming capabilities of both GSM and in mobile WiMAX bands.
