Redline and Siemens Collaborate on Fixed and Mobile WiMAX Interoperability
August 31, 2007 by Jeff Orr
Redline Communications Inc. and Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices, today announced private testing to verify interoperability between Redline and Siemens WiMAX Forum Certified products. The testing is part of the Redline Ecosystem Verification (’REV’) program designed to accelerate the deployment of interoperable WiMAX networks.
“The success of WiMAX depends on the ability of carriers to deliver the services their customers demand,” said Dr. Marc Achhammer, Senior Vice President and Head of WiMAX, Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices. “Today’s WiMAX solutions deliver the fixed and portable capabilities as well as the range of devices that offer a range of choices to WiMAX subscribers, and provide operators the flexibility they need to plan and deploy a profitable network. When complete, our interoperability testing with Redline will ensure carriers have more choice, flexibility and capabilities for their WiMAX networks.”
The REV interoperability testing confirms that carriers can incorporate Redline’s RedMAX(TM) and Siemens WiMAX modem Gigaset SE471 and the outdoor modem Siemens 2010 in their WiMAX networks. The REV program augments the testing for WiMAX Forum Certification, verifying that carriers can achieve connectivity between Redline infrastructure and Siemens devices in their network and manage the devices.
“As leading WiMAX vendors, Redline and Siemens understand carriers’ need for interoperability in their networks,” said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Redline Communications Inc. “The true growth in WiMAX will be driven by carriers’ abilities to support a greater range of personal broadband devices on their networks. Redline and Siemens are ensuring that carriers can realize the real benefits of WiMAX technologies.”
