WiNetworks to Demonstrate Mobile WiMAX 802.16e Solution for Broadcasters
August 30, 2007 by Jeff Orr
WiNetworks, a pioneer and leader in the development and integration of WiMAX and digital video broadcast network technologies, will demonstrate at IBC 2007 a full line of mobile WiMAX 802.16e equipment specially designed for the Digital Broadcast Operator. The Win-Max family of equipment includes a compact base station, and customer premise equipment, allowing DBS and DVB-T Operators to build a complementary 802.16e mobile WiMAX based wireless network.
WiNetworks patented hybrid DVB/WiMAX technology reuses the existing infrastructure of installed dish, coax and set-top-boxes resulting in low installation costs. Broadcast operators can reduce churn and increase competitiveness by adding triple play and mobile services over a single bill.
The Win-Max compact base station uses the mobile 802.16e WiMAX technology to enable new revenue sources from mobile wireless applications while integrating with the existing infrastructures of one-way broadcast operators, broadcast satellite and cable operators. A full outdoor, compact design attains simple installation and mounting on various poles, street lamps or exterior walls lowering OPEX and CAPEX. The compact base station integrates with the WiNetworks customer premise equipment for Coax, Ethernet, and Self-install applications. These high-performance devices provide complete 802.16e mobile WiMAX broadband wireless access functionality through the home and on the move.
“We are pleased to participate at IBC in Amsterdam and show our patented technology for Broadcasters intending to update their networks to Triple Play and Mobile,†states Mr. Effi Atad, CEO of WiNetworks, “Our patented technology targets the specific needs of the DBS and DVB-T operator giving a competitive, cost effective solution to the market.â€
The Compact Base Station (WiN7000) and Customer Premise Equipment (WiN5000 series) are part of the Win-Max E series product family and are managed by the WiNMS Network Management System.
