The WiMAX Forum announced it has selected Advance Data Technology Corp. (ADT) as the first Asian certification test lab of both fixed and mobile WiMAX certification services at the WiMAX Forum Member Conference in Madrid, Spain. A South Korean lab was announced by WiMAX Forum for Mobile WiMAX certifications in February 2006.

ADT Taiwan, founded in 1988, currently tests EMC, RF, TELECOM, SAFETY, Wi-Fi, and now WiMAX. It also offers a wide range of services including worldwide type approval, SAR, DTV RF Performance, DFS, Antenna Pattern Measurement and NCC Testing & Certification Service etc.

To start the WiMAX product certification process, ADT is expected to launch its WiMAX Forum certification service in early October 2007, to offer the same level of service as AT4 wireless, Spain which is currently the only facility in the world capable of providing both fixed and mobile WiMAX Forum certification. By launching this service ADT plans to offer superior service in Asia by becoming a single destination for its customers’ both fixed and mobile certification needs.

Taiwan, known for its Information Technology industry, became directly involved in the WiMAX industry through the creation of a dedicated ecosystem to speed up the development, manufacturing and marketing of WiMAX technology as well as the development and implementation of the M-Taiwan Program. ADT started its WiMAX testing study in 2004. It received the first WiMAX regulatory certificate in 2005, and subsequently got selected as the M-Taiwan Test Lab in 2006, to provide certification testing for manufacturers to apply for M-Taiwan Project. Earlier this year, ADT built the validated test equipment and accepted training from AT4 wireless, establishing the identical test capability as AT4 wireless then endeavored itself to become the WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Lab.

In Oct. 2007, ADT will expect to be authorized and launch the WiMAX Forum certification testing to provide members to certify conformity and interoperability of WiMAX products. With the experiences it has accumulated for years in certification and testing field, ADT will contribute its specialized recommendation to WiMAX Forum and endeavor itself to achieve the highest level of one-stop service to meet the expectations of WiMAX Forum. Coincidentally, WiMAX Forum will be hosting its third member conference of 2007 in Taipei during October.
